Jamie-Lee Sexton is a multi-talented South African singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who has built a prominent presence in the country’s pop, Afro-pop, and house music scenes.
Hailing from Magaliesburg, South Africa, Jamie-Lee began singing, writing music, and playing instruments from a young age. She later studied live performance at AFDA in Johannesburg.
Her national breakthrough came in 2010 when she reached the Top 8 on Idols South Africa. Following the show, she co-founded the Afro-house fusion project Audiophreniq with DJ Parkah and later formed the energetic live touring band The Sextons in 2013.
Launching her full solo career, Jamie-Lee released her acclaimed EP Medicine Woman, which debuted at number one on iTunes and yielded multiple radio hits. Known for her signature raspy vocals and dynamic stage presence, she has earned several accolades and nominations, including wins at the Basadi in Music Awards.
She has collaborated with notable producers and artists—including Grammy-winning producer C-Tea and house producer Mobi Dixon – and has performed on major festival stages alongside international acts. In addition to her vocal and songwriting work, she expanded into DJing and runs the independent label and media house Stella June alongside her wife.
