Mathew Gold has released a brand new single entitled “By The Way”. With a name synonymous with #1 hits, his latest offering is the 3rd single from his new album ‘Breakfast, Lunch & Deep House’, which is set for release in the near future. Fans got a taste of the new album with his two previous releases, the #1 ‘Burn’ and ‘Precious Time’, both released earlier this year.
For his new album, Mathew Gold decided on a variety feast of music with the aim of organically creating new music for people to enjoy at different times for different reasons. The album consists of three categories: ‘Breakfast, Lunch & Deep House’.
‘Breakfast’ features a lot of acoustic guitar combined with Jazz inspired songs. With ‘Lunch’, Mathew approached the recording process completely differently; with his band he wrote and performed the songs for months before going into studio.
Sharing his life experiences with friends whilst making music of the stories is also the part of the new album which inspired him to go back to writing and performing again. For the ‘Deep House’ part of the project, Mathew Gold teamed up with producer Marc Ronin. No newcomer when it comes to the electronic dance space, Mathew decided it was only fair to give the people what they want with the third and final part of his new album.
“By The Way” can be described as an electric guitar-driven Hip Hop track, with a special appearance by Duncan Johnson on saxophone taking the song into international spaces. The song was written in 2017 during a writing session in Mathew’s drummer Byron Pillay’s garage. Feeling angry and overwhelmed at the time, Mathew poured that energy into the song which later also became the theme song for the band.

“By The Way is about so many things, including my relationships and my struggle with life and music. I hope people don’t take me or this music too literal; life is not that serious.”
With an ever evolving sound, fans will still be able to hear the band element present in this new offering as with his previous single, “Precious Time”. Mathew Gold thrives on the idea of being able to surprise people with his music whilst still staying true to himself as a musician.
“By The Way” encapsulates the spirit of brotherhood and making music with close friends, and features a textured body of work with heartwarming guitar, drums, keys and saxophone sounds all united by its vocal work.
