Riaan Smit Releases New Single: "LTWYL"

Award-winning singer-songwriter Riaan Smit has released his latest single, “LTWYL,” today. The song, an acronym for “Love The Way You Love,” uniquely blends Lo-Fi Hip Hop and Blues, creating a genre Smit describes as “Blues-hop.” This track offers a soulful and introspective musical experience for listeners.

“LTWYL” celebrates love and connection, capturing the essence of deep affection and appreciation between two people. With lyrics that liken the speaker’s feelings to the sun and stars, the song explores themes of attraction, positive energy, and shared memories that affirm the couple’s destined bond.

The song features an impressive lineup of talents, including South African guitar legend Albert Frost, top SA jazz saxophonist Gareth Harvey, Zimbabwean music icon Raymond Mup on keys, and the soulful backing vocals of Namibian artists Lin Mari and Jessica Ashley.

Written, produced, and mixed by Riaan Smit, “LTWYL” was mastered by Alwyn Bekker of the legendary Gauteng folk duo Bad Peter, ensuring a polished and resonant sound.

Known for his genre-defying style rooted in Afro-gypsy Blues, Smit draws inspiration from artists like Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

His career spans six original studio albums, including acclaimed works such as Desert Child (2017) and Man in the Hat (2019) under his solo projects, along with notable collaborations with bands Crimson House and The Brothers Remedy.
