South African singer-songwriter Sasha Burn continues her artistic evolution with the release of “One,” a deeply personal folk-pop single.
Accompanied by a breathtaking cinematic music video, the track explores the universal “what if” question: what if the person you have never been able to forget is still thinking about you too?

A Song of Emotional Honesty
“One” was born from years of unspoken feelings and reflection. “The feeling was wanting to reach out to someone but also doubting myself,” Sasha Burn shares. Inspired by a real-life connection that has stayed with her for years, the song balances hope and uncertainty, creating a message that is both intimate and deeply relatable.
Cinematic Storytelling
The official music video expands on these themes, set against sweeping natural landscapes. It follows Sasha and her love interest through evocative moments that blur the line between memory, imagination, and possibility.
Notably, the video features equestrian imagery that reflects Sasha’s life beyond the stage. As One of the world’s leading horseback archers – currently ranked as South Africa’s top female competitor and second in the world – Sasha incorporates her passion for horses into her art. She is also a dedicated coach, mentoring young riders from underrepresented communities who are breaking new ground in the sport.
An Artistic Evolution
The release marks a significant step in Sasha Burn’s creative journey. Produced by Jono Greyling, “One” blends uplifting folk-pop melodies with her signature storytelling. “I’d describe the sound of One as empowering folk-pop that makes you want to run in a field,” she says.
The creative process was both challenging and cathartic. “The writing process was more difficult than my other songs because it felt more personal, yet it was like lifting a weight off my shoulders,” Sasha explains.
She credits much of her development to the supportive environment at Pretty Loud Studios, an all-female music hub under the guidance of Amy Tjasink that fosters collaboration and opportunities for women in the industry.
A New Era for Sasha Burn
Following the success of previous singles “Umoya” and “Mountain Breeze,” “One” signals the start of an exciting new era for Sasha Burn.
Above all, she hopes the song inspires her listeners to take chances. “I hope that it gives others the courage to take the leap, whatever it may be in their life that they long for.”
With “One,” Sasha Burn transforms a personal story into a moving celebration of hope and courage, further establishing herself as One of South Africa’s most captivating emerging artists.
