Rising Southern African hip-hop artists Scribes Pitso and Theofillus have teamed up to deliver their latest banger, “Babalaz”—a track that blends the hard-hitting essence of hip-hop with the groove-heavy influence of urban beats.
As the lead single from their upcoming collaborative album, “Babalaz” captures both the thrill and the aftermath of a wild night out, offering a raw, relatable, and high-energy take on South Africa’s party culture
“We wanted to create something that really speaks to the lifestyle—those nights where you go all in and then wake up feeling the consequences,” says Scribes Pitso. “It’s a celebration, but also a moment to reflect on the culture.”
Theofillus adds, “This track is all about energy. It’s about letting loose, but also about recognizing the rhythm of life that comes with it. We wanted it to bang in the clubs but still have that authentic storytelling that hip-hop is known for.”
With “Babalaz”, Scribes Pitso and Theofillus are proving that Southern African hip-hop is evolving—fusing sounds, pushing boundaries, and capturing the realities of township life.
You can stream/download the track on Spotify and all other major streaming platforms.
