Singer-songwriter, Sharine Barnard, has carved out a niche for herself in the realm of love and the emotions it evokes. “You’re The Liar” is the latest single from her pen and the second-to-last track on her upcoming debut album, Words Fail Me (Part 1), which is set to be released later this year.
The songs on her album cover all the different stages of loving and being in love, with her latest pop song representing the “angry phase”.
“This track is slightly tongue-in-cheek, but it hints at the fact that an apology sometimes comes too late, especially when a little white lie was involved. But where love is concerned, one always somehow gets over the anger and forgives quickly.” she explains.
She explains that the song, produced by 2Tone Records’s André de Jager, ties in with “My Read-Between-The-Lines“, which is about the unpredictability of love and how one can be unexpectedly caught off guard by it.
“It starts with head-in-the-clouds and progresses in “You’re The Liar” to don’t-even-look-at-me anger. Both songs represent an aspect of being in love and tell the story that goes with it.” the singer explains.
The talented musician’s previous work has been well-received by radio stations and listeners, and she believes they will also connect with “You’re The Liar”.
“In addition to the catchy beat, I think many people will identify with the lyrics because who hasn’t been mad at a loved one? So mad that you feel they shouldn’t even look in your direction…” she says.
