“Six Feet Deep & Dead” Released By FVC & JCCC

Post Summary: Francois van Coke connects with Pretorian punk band Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy on "Six Feet Deep & Dead," a thematic Halloween song about death's glorification. The track examines the psychology of coping with mortality and how masks hide our insecurities. Starting slow before building momentum, this 2023 punk rock tune is a refreshing addition to the SA music scene.

“Six Feet Deep & Dead” is the punk song you didn’t know you were waiting for. Francois van Coke grew up on punk rock, so when the Pretorian punk band, Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy approached him with the track, it resonated with him immediately.

Francois Van Coke comments on working with Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy on “Six Feet Deep & Dead”

“I still feel very connected to the punk scene. I love Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy’s influences and it was something I immediately wanted to be a part of. It is also the longest song that I ever performed on; weird for a punk song,”

Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy tends toward the “thematic” when it comes to premeditated ideas for songs that they write for specific purposes, and “Six Feet Deep & Dead” definitely fits into that category.

Jordan Redcage from Joy Club Cassidy Cassidy comments on “Six Feet Deep & Dead”

“The song was an idea for a Halloween song about the glorification of death by the living, from the perspective of those who have already passed on.”

“It speaks of the psychology behind coping with death by means of mainstreaming the idea of it and that the masks we wear hide the insecurities we all face when it comes to the unknown. Musically the song has distinct parts where the song feels like it’s shifting to a new emotion.”

This track has to be one of the coolest SA punk / rock tracks to be released in 2023. This track starts out slowly, but it picks up pace quickly. I like it. Maybe it’s because I’m just a sucker for a good punk rock tune or maybe it’s 23-year old me remember the good old days. Whatever the reason, I could use a little more of this in my life.
