It is time to testify to the power of blues-rock glory! It has been a tough time for all of our rock n’ roll music loving community in the last couple of months, but brothers and sisters the time has finally come to gather and Testify once again, upon the glory of foot-stomping blues-rock boogie!

Basson Laubscher & The Violent Free Peace released their debut album Testify on limited edition vinyl in March this year, but due to the current pandemic he not only had to cut their maiden European tour short but had to delay the launch of the vinyl as well. Restrictions have been lifted and it is finally time to bring you the big band extravaganza that will bring Testify to life!

Basson Laubscher and The Violent Free Peace have honed their trade on South African stages, crisscrossing the country and winning fans over the years with no-holds barred live performances.

Dubbed South Africa’s Rory Gallagher, Basson Laubscher is one talented musician. Born and raised in Stellenbosch, Basson fell in love with music! At the tender age of 10 he started playing guitar and has never looked back. During his high school career he met fellow band member Bertie Coetzee and helped form one of South Africa’s most loved bands, Zinkplaat who performed at all of South Africa’s most loved festivals for over 10 years!

After the band split, Basson knew he had to pursue music further and thus The Violent Free Peace was born, with a passion for Blues Rock! The Violent Free Peace have released 2 albums to date: With their first EP titled, Shakedown and their more recent release titled, Testify which will no doubt have you believing in a higher power of good old school boogie! This is one band you don’t want to miss live!

This is not just an ordinary rocking Basson Laubscher performance. Laubscher brings you all raw power and passion of his brand of blues-rock boogie, but with the extravagance of more guitars, backup vocals, organs and pianos with a mystery guest thrown in for good measure.

The 7 piece ensemble brings the magic of Testify to life in a way it is seldomly seen. The big band brings you the classic trio with the veteran angelic backup voices of Lise Swart (Anton Goosen) and Mabet Van Wyk (Cut Glass). On the funky keys, Mr. Fingers himself, Riaan Nieuwenhuis (Delta Blue) and Mr. Smooth on the second guitar, CJ Bergh (The Bakers, Scare Quotes).

Prepare for a musical journey as they Testify not only to the album, but also to the fallen idols who of course helped to inspire it! It’s a show that should NOT to be missed! This spectacle will be held at the one and only, Hillcrest Quarry on the 8th of November 2020. Doors open at 15:30 and tickets are available at Quicket. Make sure to get your ticket now and let’s get down and Testify!
