Acclaimed San Franciscan duo Karmacoda have released their new single “Practically Impossible to Please” featuring fellow Bay Area singer Megan Slankard via Sola Musa Music.
The duo has earned praise from outlets like Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOTION, EARMILK, Magnetic Mag, Hotpress, and METAL Magazine, alongside national radio play from NPR (US) and RTÉ 2XM (Ireland).
Their work has been featured in numerous film and TV scores, earning them a Hermes Creative Award (Platinum) for the “Lo-Fi Girl” video, a Gold Unglued Music Video Award for “Make Me The One,” and three Davey Awards for Video Entertainment, Best Use of Music, and Art Direction (all Silver).

Formed by Brett Crockett (aka B., producer) and Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno (bass and unique elements), Karmacoda has been blending genres for over two decades — from electronica, chill, and trip-hop to R&B, rock, and dream pop. Their sound continually evolves, appealing to fans of artists like Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Chappell Roan, and Alicia Keys.
Megan Slankard Joins the Collaboration
Featured vocalist Megan Slankard is celebrated for her powerhouse voice, sharp songwriting, and dynamic stage presence. With over 50,000 albums sold independently alongside her band The Wreckage, she has worked with acclaimed producer Alex Wong and built a loyal fan base through her heartfelt performances. On this track, she brings her trademark mix of grit and soul to an already compelling sonic canvas.
The Sound of “Practically Impossible to Please”
Co-written by Slankard and Crockett — who also produced the track — “Practically Impossible to Please” draws inspiration from 90s/2000s Soul Pop. Lush, R&B-infused instrumentation supports Slankard’s impassioned lead vocals, layered with gospel influences that stir deep emotion.
Brett Crockett explains: “I wanted to write a modern R&B, Soul, electronica-tinged song with an old school vibe. We reached out to our friend Megan Slankard who loved the music. Megan wrote the lyrics and delivered a powerful, emotional performance. The song is about someone in a troubled relationship, admitting they are ‘practically impossible to please’.”
