South African singer-songwriter Charlie Harris, the creative force behind Keep Guessing Charlie, returns with a striking new release, The Greatest EP Ever. This four-track project captures his signature blend of raw honesty, emotional storytelling, and stripped-back musical instinct.
Clocking in at just over ten minutes, The Greatest EP Ever is anything but modest in impact. The EP delivers a tightly curated set of songs that explore themes of love, disillusionment, personal growth, and emotional accountability – all grounded in Harris’s unmistakable, unfiltered songwriting style.
The Heart of the Release: “Cry Me A River”
At the centre of the release is the lead single, “Cry Me A River”, a track that cuts straight to the core of betrayal and the hollow nature of insincere apologies. The song balances vulnerability with quiet defiance, serving as a sharp, emotionally charged anthem for the project.
Harris explains that the track started with a simple riff shared with the band. The lyrics arrived naturally, focusing on the universal experience of being let down and the irony of people returning with excuses once you have moved forward. The hook, “cry me a river of crocodile tears,” perfectly established the tone for the entire song.
It’s all about Truth and Timing in Songwriting for Charlie Harris
Backed by the dynamic energy of Keep Guessing Charlie, the EP blends acoustic textures with full-band depth, creating a sound that is intimate yet expansive.
This balance allows Harris’s lyrical hooks and grounded instrumentation to take center stage without unnecessary excess.
With The Greatest EP Ever, Charlie Harris once again proves that powerful songwriting relies on truth, timing, and the courage to address what others often avoid.
The project stands as a testament to his evolution as an artist and his ability to connect through genuine emotion. The Greatest EP Ever is now available on all major streaming platforms.
