Johannesburg singer-songwriter Charlie Harris and his band Keep Guessing Charlie have officially released their new single, “Hey Now”.
First penned during the 2020 lockdown, the track is a deeply personal exploration of nostalgia, the passage of time, and the importance of holding onto the present.

When everyday life came to a sudden halt, Harris began experimenting with new guitar picking techniques. He explains that the chord progression instantly triggered a sense of nostalgia, making him long for simpler days that felt entirely out of reach.
That reflective picking style ultimately became the foundation of “Hey Now”, allowing the guitar to carry the emotional weight of memory and movement.
Keep Guessing Charlie is Balancing Yesterday and Today
As the track developed against the backdrop of the pandemic, its core message evolved. Harris realized how easily we romanticize the lives we temporarily lost while allowing our current reality to pass by unnoticed.
The song bridges the thematic gap between his previous singles “Yesteryear” and “All I Have Is Now”. It serves as a gentle reminder that the moments we are living right now will eventually become the memories we look back on.
Charlie Harris has built a solid catalog of music that turns highly personal thoughts into universally relatable experiences, as seen in tracks like “I Don’t Want It” and the upbeat “Loved & Lost”.
Alongside his band Keep Guessing Charlie, he continues to blend folk, indie, and rock while keeping straightforward, honest songwriting at the center of their sound.
With projects like The Greatest EP Ever and two Digital Dust albums already under their belt, the band is stepping into a new era.
Six years after it was first conceptualized, “Hey Now” has finally arrived, delivering a message that resonates just as strongly in 2026: it is perfectly fine to miss yesterday, just do not become so busy looking backward that today slips away.
