Antwerp-based musician Arnaud Stockbroekx, known professionally as Noonzy, has unveiled the latest track from his upcoming EP Puppies, set for release on March 28.
His new single, “Mama Mia,” bursts with whirring synth waves, buoyant basslines, and colorful percussion, all layered beneath heartfelt lyrics.

Inspired by the euphoric warmth of being surrounded by close friends, the track captures the feeling of asking yourself, “How did I get so lucky to have these amazing people in my life?”
Noonzy describes “Mama Mia” as a song that bottles up “the kind of love where you’re showering friends with compliments like, ‘You’re the funniest, most beautiful, smartest person ever!’” He adds with a wink, “The feeling is genuine—but you’re definitely drunk.”
For Noonzy—aka Antwerp songwriter Arnaud Stockbroekx—the transformation began with a single outfit. The moment he put on a shiny turquoise jumpsuit, something clicked.
The bold, Bowie-esque look, complete with shimmering Lurex, a Nehru collar, and shocking-pink fringing, embodied a childhood vision of what a rock star should be.
This playful contrast—between an innocent dream and the absurdity of an adult bringing it to life—perfectly encapsulates Noonzy’s artistic spirit. His music is wistful yet playful, extravagant yet self-deprecating, infused with an absurdist streak worthy of the Belgian Surrealists. Ceci n’est pas une rock star. This isn’t just a rock star—it’s a joyful, sugar-coated reimagining of the rock star archetype. Welcome to the Noonzyverse.
Noonzy’s journey began in late 2022. After fronting bands in London and Antwerp (GANA and Toko Joyce), Stockbroekx challenged himself to embark on a solo project, recording a collection of songs in a makeshift garage studio just outside Antwerp. Playing most of the instruments himself, he built each track by first “doodling, doodling, doodling” on guitar until a melody or lyric sparked an idea—then he ran with it, weaving those fragments into fully realized earworms.
His breakout moment came in early 2023 when he was selected as a finalist in De Nieuwe Lichting, Studio Brussel’s prestigious competition for emerging talent. What followed was a whirlwind: he was quickly signed by Musickness, Flanders’ leading music management company, and soon found himself opening for art-rock icons Warhaus and dEUS, performing solo in front of 2,000-capacity crowds across Europe.
Rising to the challenge, he caught the attention of [PIAS], who signed him before the year’s end. Encouraged to experiment more freely, Noonzy spent months refining his lo-fi recordings, diving deep into layers of synths and digital strings before stripping everything back to its core—“boiling the songs down to their essence.”

Just as he reshaped his music, he also redefined his persona, wanting to “cut up Arnaud Stockbroekx” and fully embrace Noonzy
“There’s a softness in both my music and who I am,” he reflects. “I don’t want to lose that—but I do want to challenge it.” Teaming up with costume designer Ruby Renteurs, he crafted a visual identity that channels the unfiltered imagination of an 11-year-old dreaming of stardom. Playfully satirical yet unapologetically flamboyant, it’s about reclaiming the energy, creativity, and boundless ambition of childhood—“being the biggest child in the room” while making sophisticated, polished pop music.
Through a mix of determination and improvisation, Noonzy has brought this vision to life. His signature turquoise jumpsuit may echo Bowie, but as he points out, “David Bowie is untouchable. I want to stay reachable, relatable, tangible. Noonzy is not digital—Noonzy is handmade.”
