South African alt-rock band OnDisplay has unveiled the official music video for their latest single, “Loophole” – a bold, visually arresting work that delves into themes of identity, societal pressure, and the often painful layers of self-deception.
OnDisplay is unmasking the Modern Human Condition
“Loophole” is more than a rock anthem – it’s a cinematic journey through the facades we wear to survive in a world driven by appearances and expectations.
With its theatrical visual language and a narrative that feels both surreal and uncomfortably familiar, the video explores how easily individuals can lose themselves while trying to meet external standards.
Set in a world where illusion often outweighs truth, the video paints a haunting picture of the emotional toll that conformity can take. The band uses metaphor and symbolism to confront a pressing question: are we living our truth, or simply putting on a performance?
OnDisplay Drummer Greg Groothedde reflects on the track’s social commentary, describing how people often get “drunk on society”—chasing trends, approval, and surface-level validation while losing touch with what really matters.
OnDisplay Guitarist and vocalist Ryan Kopman echoes this sentiment, emphasizing that “Loophole” is about confronting the versions of ourselves we fabricate for acceptance.
The message is direct: be unapologetically real. In a world that rewards filters and façades, authenticity is rebellion – and ultimately the key to peace and personal success.
A Cinematic Experience With Depth
Directed with a sharp cinematic vision, the “Loophole” video blends bold visual metaphors with a narrative that provokes introspection. Each frame carries symbolic weight—distorted reflections, shifting masks, and surreal imagery invite viewers to ask hard questions about who they are, and who they’re pretending to be.
The end result is a music video that doesn’t just accompany the song—it expands it, challenging viewers to reconnect with their most honest selves in a culture obsessed with performance.
