Emerging lyricist Philip Myburgh, in collaboration with a talented group of artists, proudly announces the release of the uplifting single “Let Us Sing” from his highly anticipated album, The Dance of the Footnote.
This celebration of rugby’s enduring ethos captures the spirit of unity and respect that defines the sport.
Following the successful launch of the first two tracks, “Sinani” and “Mama wam,” this new collection of 20 carefully crafted songs continues to resonate with a global audience.
“Let Us Sing,” performed by Jenny and James with Julie and the Roundabout Singers, is poised to captivate hearts worldwide with its universal message and vibrant energy.
Philip Myburgh shares his inspiration
“What I love about rugby is its ethos – the idea that two teams can go full tilt at each other for 80 minutes and then, after the game, shake hands, embrace, sometimes pray together, and perhaps share a drink. This song is a call to sing together and remember the wonderful ethos of the game.”
The song’s lyrics beautifully capture this sentiment
“We carry dreams, both big and small, to do better to prevail, for the other to fall. And we shout and we sing, let our voices ring, fly our flags, urge our teams to win.”
“For while we share this most ancient yearning, it’s not for victory alone we keep returning. (Chorus) So let us sing together, let us sing as one, for time is fleeting and then it’s gone.”
“Let us not betray what will outlast today for the dust will settle come what may. When it is over we shake hands, till we will meet again let us sing together let us sing.”
