Oppikoppi 2010: A Photo Album

Post Summary: The author attended their 12th Oppikoppi festival and loved the musical lineup. Billy Talent headlined Sunday night and got the whole crowd singing along. Beyond the Canadian rockers, they were impressed by numerous local acts including Prime Circle, Jack Parow, and Van Coke Kartel, plus Philadelphia Grand Jury on Friday night.

Yesterday I wrote about my experiences at South Africa’s premier music festival. Oppikoppi 2010: Sexy. Crooked. Teeth was the 16th annual edition of this festival. It was the 12th one that I’ve attended. The musical acts did not disappoint at all. My favorite act for the weekend was definitely Billy Talent.

The Canadian rockers had the whole crowd bouncing up and down and singing loudly along to most of their songs at their performance on Sunday night at Oppikoppi.

I also enjoyed the Philadelphia Grand Jury show on Friday night. This doesn’t mean that the local acts were crappy though. I was particularly impressed by Zebra & Giraffe, Prime Circle, Straatligkinders, Die Tuin Dwergies, Jack Parow, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Wrestlerish, Van Coke Kartel and New Holland.
