Who are Soccer’s All-Time Top Goal Scorers?

Soccer’s modern great players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are unbelievable goalscorers, yet neither superstar can claim to be the game’s all-time leading marksman. Although the two are now in the top 10 list for all-time goalscorers, they still have a long way to go to catch the No. 1 scorer of all-time.

The Champions League does give Messi and Ronaldo the chance to inch closer to the great scorers of the game. Both Messi’s Barcelona and Ronaldo’s Juventus will be in action when the Champions League resumes and fans can read this article before the teams play to get a bet bonus to use before wagering on the next round of fixtures.

Ronaldo could top the all-time goals leader list in the future but for now, the Portuguese’s legend is chasing is four other men. All four were great goalscorers in their own times and scored their goals in fewer matches than today’s greats.

So, Who are Soccer’s All-Time Top Goal Scorers?

Ferenc Puskas – 746 goals from 754 matches (0.99 per match)

Hungarian hitman Ferenc Puskas is a national hero in the Eastern European country. Puskas started his career with Hungary’s Budapest Honved helping the club to be one of the most powerful in all of Europe. He later moved to Real Madrid, becoming a legend with Los Blancos.

Puskas joined Real Madrid after being exiled from Hungary following the country’s revolution. He helped Real Madrid win three European Cups. Los Blancos are fighting for another European Cup in the Champions League and will clash with Manchester City in the quarterfinals.

Pele – 767 goals from 831 matches (0.92 per match)

Pele is one of the greatest players in soccer history. He changed the game with his play on the pitch and his celebrity off of it. Pele spent 18 years playing in Brazil with club Santos.

Despite only playing club football in Brazil, Pele’s reputation was well-known all over the globe thanks to his exploits at the World Cup.Pele’s reputation was so great in the world of soccer that he was responsible for America’s interest in the game in the 1970s.

Romario – 772 goals from 994 matches (0.77 per match)

Brazilian great Romario enjoyed a 22-year football career. During his career, Romario enjoyed stints with Vasco da Gama, PSV Eindhoven, Flamengo, and Barcelona.

It was Romario’s two-season stint with Barcelona that he is often most remembered for by football fans. Romario scored 39 of his 772 goals with the Blaugrana. He’s definitely one of the most energetic goal scorers of all time.

Josef Bican – 805 goals from 530 matches (1.52 per match)

Austrian footballer Josef Bican became the world’s all-time leading goal scorer during a career that stretched from 1928 to 1955. Bican played for the likes of Rapid Vienna, Slavia Prague, and Dynamo Prague.

Bican was also a regular for the Austrian national team before changing to the Czechoslovakia national side. He played international football at a time when the national teams rarely played compared to modern football.

Bican ran afoul of Czechoslovakia’s political powers toward the end of his career. Although Bican scored 805 official goals, it is believed he actually scored around 5,000.
