In response to explosive fan excitement on TikTok, platinum-selling and Canadian award-winning artist-songwriter Tebey has released a country rendition of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” available now via Jayward Artist Group / The Orchard on all streaming platforms.
Tebey first recorded a short snippet of the song and posted it on social media. The immediate and overwhelmingly positive response prompted his team to push for a full studio version. The TikTok clip of Tebey’s take on “Blinding Lights” racked up over 12 million views in just one week.
The Weeknd Takes Notice
Tebey’s unique country twist on the record-breaking pop hit quickly spread worldwide, even catching the attention of The Weeknd himself.
The superstar shared the song on his own social media accounts and reposted Tebey’s video on TikTok.
The clip has since become the second most-viewed video on The Weeknd’s TikTok since January 2022 and his fifth most-viewed video ever.

Driven by the Fans
“It was never my intention to release a fully produced country version of ‘Blinding Lights’. This whole thing has been driven solely by the fans,” he explains. “Once I saw the reaction my version was getting online, my producer and I literally raced to finish the song and get it out to the streaming platforms within days.”
The cover was co-produced by Danick Dupelle (Tyler Joe Miller, Matt Lang) and Tebey, with Dupelle remarking, “This version turned out to be SO Tebey. It’s like it was meant to be.”
More Excitement Ahead
Fans can expect more buzz on social media, with multiple celebrities preparing to launch content using Tebey’s new version of “Blinding Lights.”
Canadian country radio programmers have already expressed interest in formally receiving the track. Radio servicing is being planned in parallel with his current single, “Hold Your Horses,” which is climbing the national country radio chart.
