“Bad News” is a song by one of the brilliant up and coming bands in South Africa, Wrestlerish. The band hails from Pretoria (the city that I live in).
Werner Olckers, Jacques Douglas Du Plessis, Gavin Flaks and David Grevler are the members of the band. Wrestlerish blends rock, country and folk like these music genres should have always been one (and they do a bloody good job of it). They were the first act to perform at RAMFest 2010 Jhb (a show which I attended).
They recently released their first album entitled The Rude Mechanical. “Bad News” is one of the tracks on the album. They have a unique sound that will appeal to most music lovers (in this blogger’s opinion). Wrestlerish have a bright future ahead of them. I’m sure that we’ll see big things from them in the future. Wrestlerish proves that there’s loads of new musical talent in South Africa.
The band will be performing at Emmerentia Dam in Johannesburg (with Mango Groove) on the 18th of April, at Pool City in Port Elizabeth on the 22nd of April, at Buccaneers in East London on the 24th of April and at Cool Runnings in Fourways (Johannesburg) on the 27th of April. Get your butt down to one of these gigs, you will not be disappointed.
