The SaxbyTwins are back with their latest release, “First Heartbreak” – a track that does exactly what the title promises. The song traces the full arc of losing love for the very first time: the initial shock, the restless nights, and eventually, the quiet process of healing and finding yourself on the other side.
How The SaxbyTwins Brought “First Heartbreak” to Life
The idea, like many of their best ones, began as a spontaneous voice note. “If you looked at our phones right now, they’re flooded with random voice clips we record on the fly,” the duo shares, “but every now and then, we come across an idea that we instantly connect with, and that’s when it’s time to head to studio. This was one of those times.”

They returned to High Sea Studios with producer Jacques du Plessis, a collaboration that has grown into a trusted creative partnership. With each project, their sound continues to mature alongside them – and the duo feels they’ve well and truly found their artistic home in the acoustic, narrative-driven space of pop/folk.
“Our sound reflects who we are today – older, wiser, and deeply connected to the acoustic, narrative-driven roots of pop/folk.” It’s a sound that has opened doors well beyond South Africa’s borders, connecting them with new audiences around the world.
A Career-Defining Chapter for The SaxbyTwins
Building on a breakout 2025, The SaxbyTwins are showing no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year, they performed at the inaugural LIV Golf South Africa, and their music has since taken them abroad once more. “We’re incredibly grateful to be experiencing the busiest chapter of our careers,” they say – and with what’s still to come, that feels like an understatement.
Among the highlights on the horizon, the duo is set to perform at Innibos, making them one of the only English acts on the bill at the beloved Afrikaans festival. “We’re particularly honoured to be joining the lineup of Innibos as one of the only English acts in the heart of the Afrikaans festival scene.”

The SaxbyTwins Headline Their First Solo Show
Closer to home, the twins are gearing up for a milestone moment – their first-ever headline show on 25 June at Die Bosvelder, timed just ahead of their birthday.
And true to their ethos of lifting others as they climb, they’re using the platform to spotlight emerging talent. “A big part of what we want to do is always make sure we offer a platform for up-and-coming artists,” they explain. Joining them on the night will be Marlia Botha and Calum Stoltz.
What’s Next: New EP and a Nationwide Tour
Beyond the stage, The SaxbyTwins have a new EP in the works, due late 2026, with a nationwide summer tour planned for December to follow. If this year is anything to go by, the only way is up.
