South African singer, songwriter, and live performer Katia De Vallier has released her new single, “Nothing Should Stop You,” along with an evocative music video that brings her personal journey to life. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms.
A Moment of Clarity for Katia De Vallier
The song was born from a period of uncertainty when Katia was navigating retrenchment and the challenge of balancing a corporate career with her passion for music.
While driving a familiar route, she was inspired by a billboard that featured the words: “Nothing Should Stop You”. This moment served as the catalyst for her to launch her own consultancy and pursue original music on her own terms.
Reflecting on the experience, Katia De Vallier notes: “Those four words felt like they jumped straight into my heart. For the first time, I truly believed I could pursue both my music and my own business – on my own terms.”
Katia wrote the lyrics and melody for the track, which was composed and produced by Daniel Baron. The mastering for the single was handled by Tjaart van der Walt.
The collaboration with Baron began in October 2024 after Katia De Vallier responded to an advertisement for Hit Kitchen studios. According to De Vallier, Baron helped revolutionize her perception of herself as an artist and helped her believe in the music she wants to bring into the world.

Directed by Matt Marinus, the music video highlights Katia De Vallier’s emotional journey through striking contrasts:
Settings: The video features car scenes representing internal doubt, studio scenes in black symbolizing fear, and outdoor scenes in an orange dress representing freedom.
Symbolism: A black scarf serves as a symbol for the limiting beliefs referenced in the lyrics, “break these chains that always held me back”.
Themes: By the end of the video, the narrative shifts from fear to hope, conviction, and possibility.

Katia De Vallier shares that the harmony section, added during the creative process, represents a heartfelt wish for listeners to find purpose and the courage to pursue their own path. Ultimately, she hopes the song serves as a reminder that fear and uncertainty do not have to define one’s future.
