Jacaranda FM‘s Martin Bester released his feel-good new single “Angel”, featuring Ross Learmonth a while ago. It’s a heartfelt musical tribute to the life-changing work of the station’s flagship community initiative, Good Morning Angels.
A Dream Martin Bester Finally Made Real
Writing a song inspired by Good Morning Angels has long been a personal ambition for Martin Bester.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” he says. “Good Morning Angels has become such a massive part of my life and my journey at Jacaranda FM. Over the years, we’ve witnessed incredible moments of humanity, kindness and hope, and I always felt those emotions deserved a song.”
The upbeat pop track, co-written with Ross Learmonth and Ewald Jansen van Rensburg, who also produced the song, captures the emotional reality of reaching a low point in life and learning to accept help from others.
At its core, “Angel” is a song about hope, compassion, and the power of people showing up for one another when it matters most.
Why Ross Learmonth Was the Natural Choice
When it came to collaborating, Martin says Ross Learmonth was the obvious choice. “Ross has been a friend of the station and a supporter of Good Morning Angels for many years, so asking him to be part of this felt completely natural,” Martin Bester explains. “I’ve also wanted to work with Ross for a very long time. He’s an incredible songwriter, unbelievably passionate about music, and so pedantic in the best possible way when it comes to getting every detail right in a song. Watching him work in studio was genuinely inspiring.”
For Ross, joining the project was equally straightforward. “Teaming up with Martin was a no-brainer,” he says. “I am a big fan of Martin as a human being, as a DJ, as a musician and especially the work he does with Jacaranda FM and Good Morning Angels. I know it’s been a dream of his to write a song for Good Morning Angels and I am so glad we could make it happen. I am honoured to be a part of this and I hope it brings even more strength to the angels and what they do.”
Streaming “Angel” Supports a Worthy Cause
Beyond the music itself, “Angel” carries meaningful purpose. Martin Bester will be donating all of his songwriting royalties to Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels fund, helping the initiative continue changing lives and supporting individuals and families in need across South Africa.
Over the past 20 years, Good Morning Angels has grown into one of South Africa’s most impactful radio-led initiatives, raising millions of rand for causes ranging from medical assistance and education to housing, mobility, and disaster relief.
“Angel” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms. Every stream contributes to a legacy of kindness that has defined Jacaranda FM for 40 years.

Speaking about the music video, Martin Bester says seeing the song come to life through the learners’ eyes made the project even more meaningful.
“‘Angel’ is an incredibly special song to me. Filming the music video at Jacaranda FM made perfect sense because this station has done such incredible work with Good Morning Angels,” says Martin. “What really makes the video special, however, is the footage from our Feel Good Tour. Seeing how the learners connected with the song and the beautiful interpretations they brought to it was incredibly moving. They added so much heart to the video, and I think people will really feel that when they watch it.”
