South African post-punk indie rockers The Dirty Skirts are back with their latest single, “Bleeding Out” – a dark, gripping track that explores the razor’s edge between love and annihilation.
It’s a love song, but one that skews toward martinis garnished with eyeballs and winter coats made of your lover’s skin, it’s a starkly imaginative portrayal of passion and chaos.

The Dirty Skirts‘ New Single is a Story of Love, Rage, and Rebirth
“Bleeding Out” channels the tension of an unhealthy relationship: she feels everything, rage included, while he retreats into disconnection and withdrawal.
Drawing inspiration from Kali, the goddess of destruction and rebirth – holy, frightening, protective, and cleansing – the song captures the push and pull of a couple caught in a toxic dynamic, while beneath the chaos lies a desire for love, connection, and repair.
“We’re really excited about our new single, Bleeding Out. It captures some of the energy we’re feeling right now… an urgency to share music, alongside the poignancy of how mad human life on planet Earth is at the moment.” says The Dirty Skirts frontman Jeremy de Tolly.
“Lyrically, the track is an intimate look into a toxic relationship pattern I used to be stuck in. It’s an invitation to move beyond combative or dissociative old behaviours into something more present, passionate, and real. As a band, we feel like we’re back, but also brand new… ready to light up your favourite playlists, clubs, and festival stages.” he concludes.
The track began as a series of biting riffs from guitarist David Moffatt, which The Dirty Skirts then expanded on through remote collaboration. Produced by Josh Berry, “Bleeding Out” is as much an exorcism as it is an anthem – raw, urgent, and impossible to ignore.
