Local Indie-pop band Dance You’re On Fire has just signed a deal to release their debut album Secret Chiefs in Europe on the 10th June 2011. Brokered and administered by the new European office of Southern Pulse Music, the deal will see the release of the first international single Boxes Of Tigers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (through massive radio plugging company Revolver Promotions). Print media is being handled by Music Matters and physical distribution via Broken Silence. 2011 has erupted for this hardworking band and the international news is indeed cause for celebration, being announced literally days before the band launch Secret Chiefs in South Africa.
The album lunch party is at The Town Hall in Newtown, Johannesburg this coming Saturday (the 19th of February 2011). The mood in the band is obviously celebratory. Lead singer and primary song writer Tom Manners had this to say about the news, “To branch out and release an album in another country is a dream come true for any band. We’re incredibly excited to see where this takes and we definitely think it’s the next logical step for us. We just want to have as many people as possible hear our music, so the chance to release our album in Europe is one we grabbed with both hands.” Dance You’re On Fire has been successfully delivering a perfect blend of indie pop / punk sounds to radio waves across SA.
So far, the band has 3 massive singles under their belt, including Blockade, Little War and more recently the giant track Boxes Of Tigers. The group have formed a powerful fan-base through flawless live performances and rock solid songwriting. Catch them live this Saturday at The Town Hall in Newtown from 8pm. Tickets R50 or R100 at the door with a copy of Secret Chiefs. For more information contact Jono Ross at Red Flag Design & marketing on 011-4478283. The last time I saw Dance You’re on Fire was at Oppikoppi. Sexy. Crooked. Teeth and I was quite impressed by their live performance.
