After two years away from the spotlight, global superstar Lewis Capaldi makes his much-anticipated return with a bold new single titled “Survive”.
The track marks a significant turning point in his career, following a challenging period that culminated in a deeply emotional moment at Glastonbury 2023 — where the Pyramid Stage crowd helped carry an overwhelmed Capaldi through the final moments of his set.

“Most nights I fear that I’m not enough, I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up,” Capaldi sings in the haunting verses of “Survive”, which tackles themes of mental health, self-doubt, and emotional exhaustion. The chorus strikes back with raw defiance:
“I swear to God I’ll survive, if it kills me to, I’m gonna get up and try, if it’s the last thing I’ll do.”
The track reunites Capaldi with longtime collaborator Romans, who co-wrote the global hit “Someone You Loved”, which was certified 10x Platinum earlier this year.
“Survive” arrives on the heels of a series of low-pressure Scottish warm-up shows held in May 2025. These intimate performances were in partnership with mental health charity CALM, forming part of Mental Health Awareness Week. The shows gave Capaldi a chance to test his emotional readiness before officially re-entering the public eye — and they proved a triumphant success.
Lewis Capaldi’s last release, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, became his second UK Number 1 album and featured three additional UK Number 1 singles:
- “Pointless”
- “Wish You The Best”
- “Forget Me” (certified Platinum)
The album saw Capaldi collaborating with industry heavyweights like Max Martin (Taylor Swift, The Weeknd), Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean), and Phil Plested (James Bay, Bastille).
It received critical acclaim from publications including The Guardian, New York Times, NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, and Stereogum. Its commercial performance was equally impressive, with first-week sales surpassing 95,000 units — outselling the entire Top 10 combined and even outperforming his debut album’s launch numbers.
In April 2023, Lewis released his deeply personal Netflix documentary, “Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now”. The feature-length film — now GRAMMY®-nominated — offered a raw, unfiltered look at his mental health journey and artistic evolution. It quickly became the most-watched film on Netflix upon release.
Lewis Capaldi’s meteoric rise began with his 2019 debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, the UK’s best-selling album of 2019 and 2020. It spawned two UK Number 1 singles and earned him several BRIT Awards and a GRAMMY® nomination.
His breakout single “Someone You Loved” has since become the UK’s most-streamed song of all time and ranks as the fourth most-streamed song globally.
“Survive” Signals a New Era for Lewis Capaldi
Now, with “Survive”, Lewis Capaldi returns stronger, more self-aware, and determined to reconnect through honest music. It’s not just a comeback — it’s a declaration that even at your lowest, there’s power in perseverance.
As Capaldi embraces this new chapter, he shows that vulnerability is a strength — and that surviving isn’t just about enduring, but about returning with your heart wide open.
