Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys Release New Single: “Anchor”

The Lost Boys have unveiled their latest single, “Anchor”, a hauntingly tender track featuring Lucy Kruger’s soft staccato vocals that blend the nostalgia of childhood melodies with profound yearning.

Beneath its familiar scaffolding lies a sophisticated musical landscape, lifted by Kruger’s precise enunciation, short searing guitar, and exhaling viola lines.

The single’s visual, crafted by DTAN, the band’s longtime collaborators, depicts Kruger (un)devouring a pale white rose – a symbolic act of undoing. Rather than violent, it portrays a gentle reassembly, caring for what has been excised and reflecting on personal transformation.

“Anchor speaks to the eternal frustration of wanting to be both moored and meandering – to be known, yet able to create yourself anew. Can you sail into the unknown and still remain safe? Probably not. The song longs for home, but also for a love like the one you might feel before the imagined fall from grace that comes with leaving childhood. For somebody to say ‘it’s all going to be okay,’ and to believe them.”

Unlike previous The Lost Boys albums, the forthcoming Pale Bloom emerged slowly, aiming to suspend a creation myth in amber—an origin tale both ancient and intricate, full of metaphor and mystery. The single “Something That You Said” expands this exploration, addressing the universal pain of watching someone you love fade under depression, offering comfort and closure.

Pale Bloom reaches further back into childhood than any of The Lost Boys‘ previous work, mining nursery rhymes, folk songs, and forgotten melodies to create a deeply personal yet universally resonant sound. Kruger’s voice weaves lyrical forms around longing, mourning, and desire, supported by lush, expressive instrumentation.

The album features Lucy Kruger (voice and guitar), Liú Mottes (guitar), Jean-Louise Parker (viola), Gidon Carmel (drums), and Reuben Kemp (bass). Strings are more somber and grounded than on previous releases, guitars roam freely between expansive spaces, and the grooves balance stoicism with expressiveness.

Pale Bloom was recorded across Berlin with bandmates and close collaborator André Leo over six months, with mixing by Simon Ratcliffe. The album is set for release via Unique Records in February 2026.
