Tamaryn steps into her truth with “Never Alone”

South African singer and songwriter Tamaryn steps boldly into a new chapter with the release of her highly anticipated single, “Never Alone.” Marking her first release under her birth name, the track fuses Afrobeats rhythms with bright, uplifting pop melodies, carrying a message that is both spiritual and universal.

Featuring Nigerian artist Rhyma, “Never Alone” is a cross-cultural collaboration celebrating unity, resilience, and divine companionship.

The song is deeply personal, inspired by Tamaryn’s journey of faith and self-discovery. After a series of back-to-back relationships, she embraced a transformative season of solitude, including a three-month stay in Spain. There, she discovered freedom, inner peace, and the reassurance that she was never truly alone.

The lyrics reflect this journey of healing and hope:

  • “Feeling free / So far from where I used to be” – celebrating personal growth.
  • “Made art out of what was left of me” – turning pain into beauty.
  • “Turned my pain into poetry” – using music as a vessel for healing.
  • “I’m never alone” – a spiritual affirmation at the heart of the song.

While the track draws from her Christian faith, its message is inclusive, serving as a reminder that through God, a higher power, or inner strength, we are always guided, protected, and accompanied.

The official music video, released alongside the single, was filmed at the Cradle Boutique Hotel, set against one of South Africa’s most pristine natural landscapes.

The visuals explore freedom in nature, showing how even vast and isolating spaces can be filled with connection and presence. The video transitions from still, reflective moments to sequences of dancing and running, symbolizing liberation, forward motion, and the release of the past while embracing joy and self-acceptance.

This release marks a stylistic shift for Tamaryn. Moving away from darker, moodier visuals, the video features lighter tones in lighting and styling, mirroring the brighter, more open space she now occupies both personally and creatively. Every frame reflects joy, from intimate reflection to carefree movement in nature.

Tamaryn collaborated with Devin Nyschens of Culture Collective for the video. “I’ve always admired Devin’s eye, his unique editing style, and his storytelling through film and photography. We’ve worked together before for my clients, but I’ve been wanting to collaborate on my own music for a long time. He brought the concept to life in a way that felt authentic to me,” she says.

More info about Tamaryn

Previously known under her alter ego Karma Luna, Tamaryn made a name for herself as a DJ, vocalist, and performer in South Africa, with memorable sets at venues including Snatch 32 Bar and Cabo Beach Club, sharing stages with icons like Black Coffee. Under Karma Luna, she explored trap, urban, and ambient pop, honing her sound and performance style.

Now, she emerges fully as herself. Releasing music under her birth name represents a personal and spiritual choice, embodying resilience, peace, and divine protection. Her new music blends Afro-fusion pop and soul with themes of independence, faith, and self-worth.

“Never Alone” featuring Rhyma is the first release in this exciting new chapter, setting the stage for more globally inspired and uplifting music.

The single is available to stream/download on Spotify and all other major streaming platforms.
