South African rising indie artist Jade Olivia unveils her latest single, “Yet”, a tender, introspective track capturing the feeling of longing for someone you haven’t met yet.
Written in 2020 during lockdown, “Yet” was born out of solitude, imagination, and the emotional waves of young heartbreak.

“I had only recently started writing songs in my bedroom and had just gone through my first heartbreak as a 19-year-old,” Jade shares. “The song came from imagining my future partner, wondering who they might be and what they’d be like. At its core, “Yet” is about waiting and everything that happens in the in-between before you meet that person.”
Musical Evolution and Production
Produced alongside Greg Abrahams, “Yet” marks the duo’s second collaboration and showcases Jade’s evolution from her raw, lo-fi debut Medicine into a more polished, atmospheric sound.
The song’s dreamy textures and lush instrumentals mirror its nostalgic tone. Jade explains, “Sonically, it feels lazy and a little sleepy, almost like the drifting feeling of daydreaming. That ties perfectly into its meaning.”

Jade Olivia’s Musical Journey
Born and raised in Hout Bay, Jade Olivia’s journey into music began in high school when she first picked up a guitar and started writing songs to make sense of her emotions.
After spending time in the UK during her studies, she returned home to Cape Town to pursue her music more intentionally. “That time away taught me a lot about myself,” she reflects. “Coming back home felt like a fresh start; it made me certain that this is what I want to do.”
With her debut EP set for release in early 2026, Jade Olivia is carving out her place in South Africa’s indie scene, proving herself as a promising voice for thoughtful, emotive storytelling through music.
