Acclaimed singer-songwriter Matthew Mole has returned with his latest single and music video, “In My Head,” delivering an upbeat, pop-leaning indie-folk offering just ahead of his highly anticipated concert at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on Sunday, 8 March.

It’s classic Matthew Mole territory – introspective, melodic, and emotionally honest – but with a noticeable lift in energy that signals both growth and confidence.

The Story Behind Matthew Mole’s “In My Head”

Recorded in a remote cabin in the mountainous desert region of the Karoo, “In My Head” explores the emotional weight of feeling lost in a world without loved ones. There’s isolation in the lyrics, but not despair. The track moves effortlessly from melancholy into uplifting, feel-good nostalgia — that delicate balancing act between vulnerability and hope that has become his signature.

It’s the sound of someone reflecting deeply, but refusing to stay stuck there.

A Career Defined by Momentum

With more than 240 million streams worldwide and multiple Gold and Multi-Platinum certifications, Matthew Mole continues to cement his position as one of South Africa’s most successful musical exports. “In My Head” highlights his evolution not only as a songwriter, but also as a producer — blending heartfelt storytelling with infectious melodies that linger long after the final chorus.

There’s polish here, yes — but also authenticity. The kind that can’t be manufactured in a boardroom.

Major Live Moments Ahead

The release arrives at a pivotal moment. Fans can catch Matthew Mole live at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on 8 March – one of his very limited South African performances this year. From there, he heads abroad for the first of two European tours in 2026, running from 7–27 April.

Another major local highlight includes his appearance at Splashy Fen, one of the country’s most iconic festivals, before launching into his European schedule.

It’s a calendar that reads less like a tour plan and more like a victory lap.

Stepping Into Independence

2026 also marks a bold new chapter. Matthew Mole has officially transitioned into independence, releasing music via his own label in partnership with Kartel Music Group in the UK. It’s a decisive move toward full creative and business autonomy – the kind of step artists take when they know exactly who they are and where they’re headed.

Ownership matters. Especially in an industry that rarely hands it over easily.

The official music video for “In My Head” has been released alongside the single, visually complementing the song’s emotional journey and atmospheric soundscape. It enhances the introspective tone while reinforcing the hopeful undercurrent that defines the track.

“In My Head” isn’t just another release – it’s a reminder that even in moments of uncertainty, there’s rhythm, there’s memory, and there’s forward motion. And right now, Matthew Mole seems to have all three working in perfect sync.
