Why Shevchenko’s AC Milan Comeback Was Unsuccessful

Andriy Shevchenko was one of the main legends of AC Milan. As part of this team, he won the Italian championship and the Champions League.  By the way, Serie A standing and data on matches in the international arena are presented on the site of sports statistics. You can follow them in a convenient format.

Shevchenko played from 1999 to 2006 for AC Milan. During this time, he scored over 170 goals for the club, making him the second top scorer in team history. In summer 2006, the forward moved to Chelsea. However, in England he failed to demonstrate his strong qualities.

To reanimate his career, Shevchenko returned to AC Milan in summer 2008. This time it was on a one-year loan, but the decision was unsuccessful.

In the 2008/2009 season, Shevchenko played for AC Milan in 26 games but managed to score only 2 goals. Moreover, he did not score a single goal in Serie A, the standing of which can be monitored on the sports statistics website.

As for Shevchenko, the failed return to AC Milan actually put an end to his great career. At the end of that season, the forward returned to his homeland, the “Dynamo Kyiv”. Yes, the player occasionally showed brilliant performances for this club, but it was clear that he is no longer a global star.

3 Reasons for the failure of Andriy Shevchenko at AC Milan

It seemed that the rental to AC Milan was a great chance to reanimate the career of the Ukrainian. Familiar championship and partners, the love of the fans – all this was guaranteed to the forward. However, the return to Serie A showed that Andriy is no longer able to pull the game at a high level.

By the way, if you are interested in football todays matches from the world of this championship, go to the site for sports statistics and follow all the confrontations.

As for AC Milan, the season 2008/2009 did not go well for the club. It was not without reason that Carlo Ancelotti left the team at the end of it. Shevchenko failed to show his best qualities on the field due to:

1. Persistent injuries. Back problems prevented him from performing at his best. It also took a lot of time to get into shape.

2. High competition in the Rosso Neri attacking line. Back then, younger players like Alexandre Pato started to play a leading role in it. Therefore, Shevchenko mostly came on as a substitute.

3. Lack of confidence in his abilities. The first setbacks broke the forward. He felt insecure, which affected his performance on the pitch. He constantly made mistakes. There were a lot of faults in his passes and shots. This did not suit the coaching staff.

As a result, the transfer was not worth it. And if today you follow football matches involving AC Milan, then go to the site of sports statistics, where you can find only the latest information.
