Free Machine, a passion project from four former musicians, has just dropped the lyric video for their debut single, “Broken Hands”, featured on their EP, Dead Echoes.
Drawing heavily from the iconic grunge era of the ’90s, the band has created a nostalgic, raw rock sound inspired by legends like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, and Temple of the Dog.

Broken Hands delves into themes of self-worth and the strength needed to walk away from toxic relationships, offering an anthemic, grunge-infused experience.
The track reflects on the idea of receiving love one might not feel worthy of, underscoring the importance of self-respect. Initially inspired by witnessing the mistreatment of dogs, the lyrics evolved into a broader message:
“Value yourself, don’t settle for less than you deserve, and have the courage to walk away if it’s necessary for your happiness,” shares vocalist Glenn Bradford.
Free Machine and Their Journey
Remarkably, the members of Free Machine—Glenn Bradford (vocals), Clint Jurgens (guitar), Bryan Nicol (drums), and Brendan Haupt (bass)—managed to create a cohesive and heartfelt EP without ever meeting in person, relying on remote collaboration. They credit their shared passion for ’90s grunge as the heartbeat of their music.
“We’re 90s kids, and grunge was our soundtrack. The music scene has evolved, but our love for that era hasn’t. This EP is our way of reliving that time and connecting with like-minded rock fans,” adds guitarist Clint Jurgens.
Unlike typical modern music projects, Free Machine was created purely out of a love for the craft, with no elaborate marketing plans or tour dates on the horizon.
“There’s no bigger picture here—it’s all about making the kind of music we’d want to listen to,” Glenn explains.
The band’s philosophy is straightforward: to push their creative boundaries and share their work with true rock enthusiasts.
