Marene Drops Explosive EP: “Nevermine”

Flash Rock trailblazers Marene return in full force with the release of their new genre-defying EP Nevermine. The South African five-piece – known for their electrifying stage presence, theatrical aesthetic, and high-gloss production — are setting a new benchmark in synth-laced rock innovation. Nevermine is a five-track tour de force that finds Marene at the height of their creative powers.

Anchored by the single “Finchie”, the EP immediately plunges listeners into a world of neon-tinged nostalgia and heart-on-sleeve emotion, before hurtling into a reimagined – and riotously fun – take on Sabrina’s “Boys (Summertime Love)”, which sparkles with synth-pop bravado.

Darker hues emerge on the band’s hypnotic cover of The Church’s “Reptile”, where thunderous drums and echoing guitars conjure a shadowy, cinematic atmosphere. The closing duo – “Something’s Out There” and “Bad Intentions” (both 2025 remixes) – revisit fan favourites with fresh, muscular production: propulsive rhythms, razor-sharp guitar riffs, and Maronay Todkill’s swirling synth lines transform each track into a high-voltage thrill ride.

Throughout, Tyler Duggan’s production and Eamon Gleeson’s mixing and mastering deliver crystal-clear sonic detail – balancing the EP’s theatrical flair with emotional immediacy – making Nevermine a cohesive statement of flash-rock innovation and unbridled stage energy.

“This EP is a controlled detour – sharp, sweet and loud all at once,” notes Skye Nagel. “It’s our boldest detour yet,” adds Duggan. “An experiment in where we’ve been and where we’re headed.”

More info about Marene

Marene is a Flash Rock powerhouse unleashing storm-forged riff eruptions across a neon-highway soundscape — fusing thunderous guitar anthems with shimmering synths, seismic rhythms, and breath-stealing theatrics.

It all materialised from a dream Tyler Duggan had of being the band he could never see live. For him, it was never just about the music; it was about the experience. The energy. The feeling of being part of something unforgettable.

On bass, Ozzey Padayachee anchors the low end with groove-laden precision; Arian Helm’s lead guitar soars like a comet across the stage; Maronay Todkill’s keyboards and backing vocals swirl in kaleidoscopic colour; and Skye Nagel’s drumming unleashes a primal heartbeat that reverberates through your bones.

Together, they aren’t just musicians — they’re architects of adrenaline.
