It’s been a long time in the making. The highly anticipated new album by Satellite79 ‘Into The Sun’ is out now. The album was launched at the famous Radium Beer Hall. Taken, the first single off the album has enjoyed widespread success on radio in S.A featuring on Jacaranda FM Hot Hit, Darren Scott’s Mix FM Top 40, and playlisted on numerous campus and rock stations.
The second single is the hooky; pop rock single ‘Hey Rae’ – proving to listeners that these boys are masters at melody, technique and mood.

Satellite79 was formed in the wake of the breakup of Concussion Girl in 2012. Core members Alec and Kevin have been at the heart of the band ever since, though some others have come and gone over the years. The current line-up has been in place for the last two years with phenomenal lead vocalist Robin Finch providing a new and exciting dimension to the band, as well as the recent addition of talented young drummer, Adrian Booysen.

Kevin Botha is in a league of his own and has had an illustrious career in the SA music industry having co wrote on many Mango Groove hits including “Special Star”, “Dance Sum More”, “Hometalk”, “Moments Away”, “Move Up Southern Sky”, “Two Hearts”, “Tropical Rain”, “Island Boy”, “Let Your Heart Speak” and “Love Is” (among others).
He was also awarded his first gold disc before the Mango hits for his co-write on the Mafika album Roadblock in 1988. He co-wrote many big hits with Ed Jordan through the 90s including, “Fly To Me”, “Tie Me Up” and “Dream” which was a 5FM no.1. Kevin also co-wrote the Vicky Sampson tracks “One River” and “How Hard” (from her album Shine), to name just a few accolades.
Since the release of the first album in 2016 Satellite79 has been gigging regularly, playing venues such as The Radium Beer Hall, Smuggler’s, Tanz Café, The Clubhouse Grill, Rumours, Rusty Hook and numerous outdoor festivals.
The brand new album Into The Sun was co-produced by the band and guitarist and producer Kevin Leicher, best known for his work with Josie Field and Arno Carstens.
